Bottom Up Blinds
Quick Dusting Techniques 1 Use a feather duster. If your blinds have just a thin layer of dust, a feather duster will be sufficient to clean them. Open the blinds and run a feather duster between each blind, to pick up the dust on both sides. If you’re looking for a method that will let you clean in hard-to-reach corners, find an old sock or glove and put it on your hand. Spray Windex on a section of the blinds and run your covered hand along it to pick up the dust. Repeat on every blind. Windex is safe to use on most blinds, but if you’d prefer a natural substance, use a solution of half water, half vinegar. For an even quicker cleanup, open your blinds and use your glove or sock-covered thumb and forefinger to pinch one blind at its edge. Run your fingers the length of the blind to pick up the dust from both sides at the same time.

I didn’t even know temporary shades existed. After my original post people made some great suggestions to improve upon the design.

Fish hook buyer’s guide Author: Frank Ross Early fishhooks were crafted from bone or sharp shells, and then, as metals were discovered and designs refined, the modern hook began its evolution into the multitude of offerings available today. Looking at huge racks and row upon row of fishhooks of all sizes and configurations, even seasoned anglers can be confused when it comes to selecting hooks. With so many fish, so many hooks and so little time, how do you pick the right hook for a specific technique?
Panel Shades create a contemporary feel and are ideal for patio doors and large windows, available in a vast choice of fabrics and natural woven materials.
The techniques used to open, close and adjust blinds varies slightly depending on what type of blind you have. Blinds come in many styles but only retract in one of two ways: This type of blind draws to one side, opposite to where the window or door opens. There are some vertical blinds which open from the center and leave vanes on each side of the window. These are known as split stack vertical blinds.
Vertical blinds should be open enough to let light into a room before you retract them. When closed, they lie flat in front of the window with no light passing through. If they are in this position when you try to open them, they will jam upon retraction. Vertical blinds should have a wand and chain to one side. To move the vanes to an open position, twist the rod until you can see through to the window, and the vanes are perpendicular to the window. With all the vanes now open and aligned, use the chain to retract them to one side or, in the case of split stack vertical blinds, away from the center of the window.
To close a vertical blind, move the chain in the opposite direction to slide the vanes back into place before twisting the wand to flatten them parallel to the window. Opening and Adjusting Horizontal Blinds Horizontal blinds open in much the same way as vertical blinds. However, you don’t need to open the vanes all the way before retracting the blind.

Shanks come in three basic sizes:
Place them inside the pencil marks you have made. There are two open sides to the bracket–one of them should face out towards you, while the other should face in towards the center of the window. The bracket door must face towards the inside of the room. Using your pencil, mark the spots where you will need to drill your pilot holes there should be two of them.
You should choose two diagonal holes to drill into so that your brackets are sturdier. Take the brackets away and hold up a level to the two holes are even. The brackets should be placed on the outside face of the window casing on both sides of the window. The brackets should be placed up against the inside top corner of each side of the window. Each bracket comes with two screws. Replace the bracket and drill your screws into place. Valance clips are used to attach the head rail to the valance.
The valance is what covers the head rail and makes it look a bit more decorative. The valance clips should be snapped over the front lip of the head rail before the head rail is inserted into the bracket. If this is the case, snap each valance clip into place next to the top of each ladder–not directly on top of it.
